SPIRITUAL AND HEALING JOURNEYS TO BRAZIL: TO JOHN OF GOD/JOAO DE DEUS IN ABADIANIA, CENTRAL BRAZIL
with author Josie RavenWing
Josie invites you to participate in a remarkable journey to experience the work of Brazil’s miracle man healer John of God (Joao de Deus). A gifted medium of healing energies since his adolescence over 50 years ago, John has touched the life of millions with healing power. People from all over Brazil and increasingly from around the world have been healed of psychological, spiritual and physical maladies, the latter including most forms of cancer, AIDS, hepatitis, asthma, blindness, paralysis and more. Although John does not guarantee any cures, saying that it is God who heals, not him, many have found relief and healing at John’s center, the Casa de Dom Inacio. Some people also go to the Casa primarily for spiritual work, as it is such a powerful environment for spiritual development, and some go to improve their own effectiveness as healers.
John of God has said that he prefers, when possible, that people going for the first time to the Casa go with an experienced guide. As of December of 2011, author Josie RavenWing has been a guide for 99 groups to the Casa. She provides in-depth information about the functioning of the Casa and guidance throughout your stay in Brazil, translates, helps you with your healing process (including adding various perspectives and processes you can use from her own several decades of healing and spiritual work), and offers additional insights about Brazil’s spiritual healing culture. In 1998, John of God/the healing entities of the Casa entrusted Josie with the mission of bringing people to the Casa from outside of Brazil, and have blessed the work she does with her groups. She thus became the first North American Casa guide, and has also been a medium of the Casa since that time, assisting John at his request both at the Casa and on the rare occasions when he works outside of Brazil.
Her third and most recently released book, “The Book of Miracles: The Healing Work of Joao de Deus,” is recommended reading before the journey, as it contains a great deal of information tha t will help you make the most of your time in Brazil. It can be ordered online from the publisher at
http://www.authorhouse.com/BookStore/BookDetail.aspx?Book=228730, directly from Josie, or through amazon or your local book store.
The following itinerary is slightly flexible. It is strongly recommended that you participate in the entire two weeks of the journey, as you will get the most benefit by doing so, but for those who truly can only stay for one week of sessions because of work or other pressures, you must come at the beginning of the trip rather than arriving for the second week only. Just know that two weeks for most people is really the minimum time needed to begin to experience the benefits of the healing work of the Casa. Josie may also be available to take private groups at times other than those listed below according to interest and her availability.
And please be aware that since Oprah’s show and magazine article about John of God the week of November 15th, 2010, Josie has had a higher volume than usual of interest in next year’s groups, So she recommends registering as soon as you’ve made a decision about which group would work for you!

COSTS: The fees are currently $1,775 USD per person. You can reserve a space with a minimum $100 non-refundable deposit. An additional $100 USD late fee will be charged if you have not mailed the balance of payment in full at least 35 days before departure.
ONCE YOU ARE PAID IN FULL, YOU WILL RECEIVE DETAILED PREPARATIONS INFORMATION VIA EMAIL.
The above fee for the journey includes organizational expenses, all of your ground transportation to and from the airport if you come and go on the same days as the rest of the group; also accommodations, food and 12 large bottles of blessed drinking water from the Casa while in Abadiania, translation, orientation sessions and several other meetings and ongoing discussion/processing opportunities with Josie. They do not include airfare, airport taxes, the cost of the herbs prescribed by John of God (which usually don’t exceed $60 U.S. – that would be for two batches of herbs), crystal light/”bath” treatments at the Casa, extra local taxis (to and from the Casa if you want or to the sacred waterfall), or any personal shopping.
When you are ready to pay the registration fee for the journey or make a deposit to assure your space, send your postal money order or cashiers check only, and a note with your name, email address and the date that you are registering for, so we can confirm receipt, please. Ask Josie for the correct mailing address for sending checks.
Because Josie travels so much, please DO NOT mail payment checks certified mail or in any other way that would require her to be present and sign for the mail. Regular or priority mail is fine – it will be held secure if she is away when it arrives. Just be sure to always email her on the day that you are putting the check in the mail, and specify which group you are registering for in that same email.
ITINERARY DETAILS:
Day 1 (Sunday for most people): leave the U.S. (or wherever else you may be at that time)
Day 2 (Monday): arrive in Brazil, rest and recovery
Day 3: orientation to the Casa de Dom Inacio, preparations for our healing process, option of crystal light baths at the Casa (cost approximately $12 per session. Some people have as many as 15 crystal baths during the two weeks, so come prepared for that possibility).
Day 4, 5, 6: sessions at the Casa
Day 7 through 10: four days of rest, trip to sacred waterfall, group meetings, etc
Days 11, 12, 13: sessions at the Casa and option of crystal light baths at the Casa
Day 14: leave Brazil (Saturday)
Once you have decided which journey you wish to participate in, please contact Josie asap so she can be sure to reserve a space for you in the group and at our hotel. And if you are in the U.S., there are several travel agents Josie uses that specialize in Brazil travel and often have lower rates than you can find elsewhere. One is Katia, katia@brol.com, 1-888-527-2745, ext. 2170 or on her private phone at 1-305-726-3242, who works at the Brol Agency in Miami. If she’s out of town and doesn’t return your call the same day, contact Ana Luisa or Cristiana at Discover Brazil Tours: 1-800-524-3666), or Lucia in California at SouthWinds Travel Agency at 1-800-533-3423 or 310-568-8426 if you’re calling from L.A. Let whichever agent you work with know that you are traveling with one of Josie’s groups and/or that you were referred by her.
Recently there are several airlines offering directly flights from the U.S. to Brasilia, including Delta out of Atlanta and American out of Miami. Both airlines have flights leaving on a Sunday nite and getting into Brasilia on Monday morning, which is ideal. However, if you take a different flight you are going to be arriving on a Sunday, please be aware that you will need to stay Sunday night at a hotel in Brasilia. You can make a hotel reservation of your choice in Brasilia, or Josie can make the reservations for you if need be. Just let Josie know if you’d like her to do so. Should your departure flight not leave on the final Saturday of our group, but rather on a Sunday then you will need to also spend that Saturday night in a hotel in Brasilia.
Please be aware that you will need a passport and, if you are using a U.S. or Canadian passport (and, I believe, Australian and perhaps a few other countries), you’ll need a Brazilian tourist visa as well. Josie will send you information on how to apply for a visa once you’ve registered, but it can take from one to two weeks to process, and in some cases, much longer, so don’t leave this till the last minute! And in order to be able to apply for a visa, you must have a passport that will be current for at least 6 months after your trip, in addition to having made your airline reservations before applying for the visa. Since applying for a passport these days is taking more and more time, even with a rush, please check your passport as soon as you have selected your date for the journey, so you know whether or not you will need a new one.
No matter where you live in the U.S., if that’s your home, there’s a great passport and Brazilian tourist visa expediting service called “It’s Easy.” They can help you with getting your tourist visa and they are reasonable and efficient. Just go to www.itseasy.com for their toll free number and rates.
And finally, you must purchase travel insurance that includes trip cancellation for the amount of the registration fee plus airfare, medical/dental, and emergency air ambulance transport (ask Josie for suggestions as to where to purchase it, although one of the best options for U.S. citizens is through Access America, toll free 1-800-284-8300) and mail Josie a copy of proof of purchase along with the completed consent form (you will receive one upon registering) when sending in your deposit or final balance of payment.
